For this shoot we collaborated with my friend Monika from @monikahibbshome who supplied many of the beautiful pieces we used. We love a good collaboration!

Let in that light. We do love the trend towards a dark moodier palette and the way photography is embracing dimly lit spaces, but when you live in a light deficient city like Vancouver sometimes you just crave that bright blinding light!

Coming back into work this week buzzing with ideas and inspiration. While travelling around California I made some time to stop in at some of my favourite stores and I also added a few new visual delights to my list this time around. There is so much beauty out there! As a designer it takes a bit more time and effort to reach outside what your local city has to offer, but in the end it brings such a richness to the final product that I can’t resist.

Coming back into work this week buzzing with ideas and inspiration. While travelling around California I made some time to stop in at some of my favourite stores and I also added a few new visual delights to my list this time around. There is so much beauty out there! As a designer it takes a bit more time and effort to reach outside what your local city has to offer, but in the end it brings such a richness to the final product that I can’t resist.

The play by play of how we put together our Christmas tree for Homes for the Holidays using a cascading garland of florals. We were so thrilled with the final product!

Hunting and gathering for a good cause. We will be decorating a Christmas tree for the grand terrace at Cecil Green Park for Homes for the Holidays. The plan is for a large dramatic cascading dried floral installation. We can’t wait to get creative and help this worthy charity.

Homes for the holidays event is just around the corner and we are delighted to have been selected among so many other talented designers and creatives in Vancouver to transform the Cecil Green Park Historic home into a festive dream.

This image was taken in my previous home, which was also historic. The feel of decorating a home with so much history, especially around Christmas, is one I love and miss so I am eager and excited to help this worthy cause.

On Saturday, November 18th and Sunday, November 19th. The cliff-top mansion will be transformed to showcase uniquely festive décor ideas ranging from tablescapes to room vignettes for you to reimagine in your own home. Enjoy a self-guided tour with music and refreshments as you wander through the exquisitely decorated rooms of one of Vancouver’s most prestigious properties.

This year proceeds from Homes For The Holidays will be donated to the Take a Hike Foundation. Take a Hike partners with public school districts to engage vulnerable youth in a full-time mental health and emotional well-being program embedded in an alternate education classroom. What a worthy cause!

So if you haven’t done so yet, gather up a few friends and plan a fun day out to kick off the season. Tickets can be purchased online @homesfortheholidaysvan.

Couldn’t make it to France this summer but I did manage to make it to a French Antique sale on the island this weekend with my sidekick @vaniapecchiainteriors. Our stamina was high and our goals were clear, find beautiful things. You know those little pieces that make a space and photo feel warm and real? That’s what we were after. We succeeded, a car full of goodies, a day full of laughs, and no regret purchases. Thank you to @surroundingscookst for making this happen.

Between our larger full scale home designs we are able squeeze in some smaller projects that allow us to get some more immediate gratification. By immediate, I mean 4-6 months from first point of contact to installation. Even for smaller projects like this one where we helped our clients with some build in cabinetry, furniture, rugs and accessory pieces it can still take some time. Helping people feel like their spaces have a new lease on life is so rewarding. This was a fun one.

Even for smaller projects like this one where we helped our clients with some build in cabinetry, furniture, rugs and accessory pieces it can still take some time. Helping people feel like their spaces have a new lease on life is so rewarding. This was a fun one.

The kitchen table is a high touch point in the home so it’s important that it can withstand daily use. We designed this piece with a combination of traditional trestle table sensibility and modern lines. It’s construction was beautifully executed by @lockandmortice who hold longevity, sustainability and craftsmanship as cornerstones of their work. We are proud to put this piece out into the world and know it will stand the test of time.

Master bathroom overhaul complete! This room was such a transformation. Once a dated and non-functional space, now it’s a stylish, spacious retreat. We were especially excited to use the @kholer push button shower controls in this space which kept the walls simple and clean.

This powder room has a small footprint but we still saw the opportunity to include some grand details: barrelled ceilings, reeded millwork and a collage of beautiful stone.

Ever wonder why we call them powder rooms? In the 1700’s these small rooms were created in wealthy estates to provide a place to powder one's wig and nose, hence the name powder room!
